Emre Palta, Ph.D.

My research focuses on understanding how materials and structures behave under mechanical loading and how this understanding can guide better structural design. I work primarily in impact mechanics and architected materials, using computational and experimental mechanics to investigate structural response. My broader interest is in developing lightweight structures that can perform reliably under demanding conditions.

I received my M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, following a B.S. from Uludağ University. At Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, I also serve as Vice Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

My teaching focuses on mechanics and its application to engineering problems. I use student design-and-build projects to connect theoretical analysis with physical testing.
